Beginning in 2004, Lucas Brown started on a venture that he never dreamed would take him to where he is today. More than just a photography and videography studio, Lucas has established KICKSTAND STUDIO as a relationship builder, community driver and a high-end imagery envelope pusher. Whether it’s setting up lights in an airplane hangar for the perfect team portraits, capturing the precision of modern architecture and the designers behind it, or even dodging weights for a Crossfit video, KICKSTAND STUDIO is ready and willing to serve our clients. Between Lucas, his full time team members, Thomas and Bailee, and incredible seasonal part-timers and interns, KICKSTAND STUDIO is apt to serving Columbia, surrounding cities and organizations across the U.S. in a consistent and creative way.

Having lived in Columbia since 1990, Lucas has come to know, love and serve the people and development of our city through photography with the support from his wife, Carrie, and children. Staying true to his roots, Lucas studied Art History at the University of South Carolina after discovering a passion and working knowledge for black and white film in high school. Surrounded by photography from a young age, it's evident that his second-nature skills constantly push him towards precision and quality while giving each client a custom experience. Always moving forward, Lucas plans to intentionally grow his team and technical knowledge as well as continually expand on the studio's creativity in order to serve clients at a high level.

With dreams of one day being a well-known filmmaker, Thomas has found the perfect home here at the studio creating eye catching images. After studying Media Arts at The University of South Carolina, Thomas landed at KICKSTAND STUDIO by way of internship and it didn't take long to know he had to be on the team. With his in-depth knowledge of portrait photography, action videography and editing, Thomas not only enjoys serving our wide variety of clientele, but is also gearing up to direct and produce his own independent film.
